Research Blaise PAscal Institute

The research focusses on religion and the social sciences, religion and natural science, and ethics. Faculty and research fellows from several departments participate in two research programmes which deal with individualism, civil society and religion, on the one hand, and with the relationship between natural science and religion, on the other.

Expert seminars have dealt with "Individualism, civil society and civil religion" (1998; the book resulting from this semninar has been published by Peeters Leuven, 2001: Anton van Harskamp & Albert W. Musschenga, The Many Faces of Individualism) and with "Personal and Moral identity" (1999; a book with this title will be published in 2002 by Kluwer Academic Publishers, Dordrecht; editors: Albert W. Musschenga, Wouter van Haaften, Marc Slors & Ben Spiecker)

In adition, there are series of lectures and activities by a number of study groups which explore the topics of human rights, the psychology of religion, economy and ideals, interreligious dialogue, and anthropological insights from the Shoah.
